BoD to discuss Inspirational Equality in Oct.

Postby Joshua » Fri Sep 30, 2011 10:56 am

I'm not sure if everyone's been following the recent Inspirational Equality discussions online, but there's been quite a bit. After the Board of Directors added the question about removing the opposite-gender requirement for fighting for crown tourneys on the SCA-wide census last year, a movement has been afoot to do just that.

The latest update is that the issue has made it onto the BoD's October 2011 meeting. Although they can't just change policy (there's a months-long process involved), they can certainly decide to propose the change to start the ball rolling.

If you support the idea of removing "of the opposite gender" from Corpora law, please write to the BoD at Comments@SCA.org to express your opinion. If you want to find more of the discussions, there are two very active Facebook groups:

BoD update

Postby Joshua » Wed Oct 26, 2011 3:38 pm

Updates from the BoD meeting on SCAToday.net:

Very encouraging news! In essence, they've agreed that perhaps the time has come, and that they need to examine Corpora, come up with a plan, present concrete changes, invite feedback, and then decide. This will take several months to process, so don't be afraid to contact the BoD with your feedback at comments@SCA.org.

Also, the Census results about the same-sex royalty question was also released:

Some interesting statistical analysis there.
